The Youth Group on Protection of Environment (YGPE) works in the area of poverty reduction and sustainable development in Tajikistan.

The YGPE implemented numerous projects focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation, access to environmental information, introduction of innovation technologies (such as preservation of biodiversity, prevention of land degradation) and promotion of better standards of living for communities exposed to climate change. Furthermore, it raises awareness of communities through educative programs and practical ecological activities on a wide range of environmental-related matters.

YPGE is implementing three main programmes:

  • The Green Patrol Program aims at developing and strengthening youth initiative groups through training and practical involvement of youth in solving socio-ecological issues;
  • Ecological Informational Aarhus Centre: this program refers to the Aarhus Convention in Tajikistan and in particular to the implementation of the 3 main pillars (access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters);
  • Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
